"Off goes Faust to his Quinta das Bágeiras"
That's how the people of the village of Fogueira gave their name to the project I created in 1989. Fausto was my paternal grandfather, whose vineyards I combined with those of my maternal grandfather to found the first winery in Bairrada in over 20 years. With the fundamental support of my father Abel, 12 hectares of vineyards that until then produced wine sold in bulk to wineries in the region were transformed into bottled wines under our brand. To the initial vineyard area, another 16 hectares were later added, always in the best "terroir" of Bairrada.
My conviction was simple: I wanted our wines to be made using traditional methods, without neglecting the constant evolution of viticulture and oenology. That's why all our grapes are harvested by hand, our reds are made in lagares (traditional stone troughs) without added yeast, and our sparkling wines have no residual sugar, for example. I believe that quality without identity is worthless.
Thus, we respect wine as it respects us, and we dedicate ourselves to it, always as a family, in a passion spanning three generations.
