Quinta do Quetzal is located in the heart of the Alentejo region on the slopes of Vidigueira. It is near the oldest Roman winery in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The microclimate and our hills create ideal conditions for a unique terroir, contrasting with the typical Alentejo landscape. The schistous soils, the different sun exposures and altitudes permitted by the hilly topography, and areas planted with old vines, form a unique combination in a setting of the Alentejo plains. The Vidigueira region is sunny and warm, but, being at the southern foot of the Serra do Mendro mountain range, it benefits from cool winds carried by the mountains from the Atlantic Ocean. These conditions, which translate into high daily temperature variations, give the plants the warmth they need to ripen the grapes and the coolness to recover. Its exceptional quality allows for the production of wines in limited quantities, which express the character of the surrounding region.
To complete the Quetzal experience, a new building was created to house a restaurant, a shop, and an art center. The schist stone, which covers its walls, stands out and simultaneously integrates fluidly with its surroundings. The surrounding space was designed to incorporate natural native plants in order to maximize the experience of the Alentejo's natural habitat.
