In Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in 1953 Manuel Joaquim Caldeira was born. Son of farmers dedicated to the land and cultivation. A son of the land who decided never to leave Freixo de Espada à Cinta behind. From a very young age, he began his activity in the business sector, managing, at only 25 years old, to buy and plant his first vineyard. A childhood dream that has grown to this day. Currently, he is one of the greatest ambassadors of the most Manueline village in Portugal, employing several families in his companies. With the determination and humility of a child, Manuel Caldeira, father of 2 children, after several years linked to the largest cooperative in the region, decided in 2015 to build his first winery. Thus, the Quinta dos Castelares project was born!
